Integral institute of advanced management IIAM was started way back in 1987 and was the first autonomous institute in Andhra Pradesh, promoted by Sri Alwar Das, former Minister of Andhra Pradesh. The former Director was Dr. K.K. Das who pioneered management institutes way back in 1957, introducing MBA in India for the first time. He was a professor who was in USA for 28 years worked at Georgia, Atlanta and Harvard, who was one among the promoters who introduced the concept of 'Management Education in India'.

Dr. Das, the first Indian to get a doctorate from  Harvard and with all his experience in USA, he came down  to India, established an institute in Delhi called IMI, International Management Institute, promoted by Cadbury group. After that he came to Vizag on request of Mr. Alwar Das and promoted this institution .

Even though IIAM is started in 1987, the Institute maintained a very low profile. IIAM is ranked as second best in the State and having 100% placements in the campus with an average salary of Rs.2.4 lakhs. The Institute has a full fledged infrastructure having good class rooms, computer labs, seminar hall, auditorium and canteen etc. More than infrastructure, we have a team of people  who has been supporting this cause with good commitment.

The basic edge that we have, when compared to other institutions is, being an autonomous institute, there are two types of management institutes one is affiliated and other is autonomous institute. The basic difference between an affiliated and an autonomous institute is, for an affiliated institute the curriculum is being developed by the university and it is not as it is required but, autonomous institute can update the curriculum as and when required and methodology is also drafted as per the latest requirements. We started corporate training just to prove that the capability of the faculty is not only teaching but we have the capability to teach the corporate. That’s the reason we got into corporate training, we have done 10 to 15 programmes per month for all the industries in Vizag and the rating is more than 95 % as far as the industry in concerned.

In addition to running the regular programmes, we have a Management Meet called 'Pinnacle'. We have pioneered as far as management meet is concerned, Way back in 1990 started pinnacle, which basically caters for all management institutions in Vizag having participants from all the Indian institutes. We have something called evoke and cultural jay, this is all to give the candidate a particular exposure to students attending from all over the country. In cultural jay the students from different states of the country dress up in their own style as per their culture and come this, helps them in improving their confidence levels.

As far the course is concerned, university system is question and answers 100 marks, but here we have 40 marks internal and 60 marks external and of 40 marks internal, we have 10 marks as classroom participation just to motivate the student so that they keep questioning the faculty which helps in understanding the subject better and we have assignments where we help the students to make a study on anything and everything which comes across and   the same thing will be presented in the class which helps the other fellow students in understanding the concept better rather than just byhearting. Management is a different kind of approach where we cannot say this is management but  in order to give the students a multi-dimensional personality, the institution gives them exposure by giving them assignments, surprise tests and 5 marks in the discretion of the faculty which helps in maintaining a good relation with the faculty. Semester ends, we have 60 marks of which 20 marks is case study, 20 marks we have question and answer and Last 20 marks is objective type. So, basically here the concept is not to make a student byheart the subject rather understand the subject, so that they will be more practical.

We take the student as raw product and at the end of the course he goes as a finished product. We not only give them a personality development but the personality should be developed for which the college has a gym, so we help them in improving their personality all together during the course.

The institution is planning to introduce a laptop for each student with WI-fi LAN. The management wants them to get the feel of the corporate which is what they are going to step into.
